College of Sciences - Hue University Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Establishment (1957 - 2017) (29-03-2017 10:29)

On March 24th, at the Culture and Information Center of Thua Thien Hue Province, the College of Sciences - Hue University held a solemn ceremony in celebration of 60 years of founding and development (1957 - 2017) and received the State's recognition, the second class labor medal.

 

Present at the ceremony from Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were Mrs. Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice-President; Mr. Chu Van Yiem, Vice Chairman of the Office of the President; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Acting Director of Higher Education Department - Ministry of Education and Training; representatives of some other ministries and government bodies; From the provincial government, Mr. Le Truong Luu, Secretary of the Provincial Party’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Cao, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; International guests from Japan, Thailand, Laos, Finland, Taiwan; Top leaders of partner universities in Vietnam; From Hue University, there came Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, President of Hue University; Leadership of Hue University; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of College of Science and Technology, current leaders, former leaders, teachers, former teachers and generations of students over time.

 

 

 

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Hien recalled the 60-year tradition of building and developing of College of Science and Technology - Hue University (1957 - 2017). Since then, the college has developed in all aspects. At present, the college has 439 staff, of which 311 lecturers, 46 professors and associate professors, 117 doctor degree holders, nearly 200 Master’s, 44 senior lecturers; 05 senior staff and librarians. The percentage of teachers with MSc or higher degrees is 96%. The college has 15 faculties, 07 functional divisions, 01 library, 05 research centers and 01 research institute. At graduate and undergraduate level, the college has implemented credit based education system for 24 fulltime programs. In the academic year 2016 - 2017, the total number of students is more than 8000, including 6913 students, 128 specialized upper secondary school students. From 1976 to 2015, 42,420 students and 958 high school students graduated from the college. At the postgraduate level, the college is currently offering 26 Master’s and 17 doctoral programs with 550 students and 153 PhD students. More than 3,000 graduate students and post graduate students graduated from the college. Currently, the college has nine buildings, 120 classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, design workshops, museums; tidy and clean administrative areas, fence walls, flower gardens, garage, etc. By the beginning of 2017, the college has implemented more than 2,000 researches and projects at all levels. The college also publishes an ISSN scientific periodical journals and participates Vietnam journal online VJOL. Especially, the college is forming strong interdisciplinary research groups such as Chemistry - Biology - Environment, Physics - Biotechnology - Aquaculture, History - Literature - Geography - Geology – Architecture, etc. Up to the beginning of 2017, the College has established partnership with 40 universities, institutes and research centers, international organizations of Asia, Europe, America and Oceania in various forms such as: scholars mobility, young teachers and students training; Equipment, aid with financial and community livelihood, implementation of scientific and technological projects and projects; exchange of academic information, materials, etc.

 

 

On the occasion of 60th anniversary, College of Sciences was awarded the second class labor medal by the President of Vietnam Socialist Republic and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Bang was awarded the second class labor medal.
