Minister Phung Xuan Nha authorized by the President, awarded the first-class Labor Medal for Hue University.

Hue University - formerly known as the University of Hue - was established in 1957. In 1976, the University of Hue were restructured into a number of universities under the direct management of different ministries. On April 04th 1994, the Government issued Decree 30/CP on the founding of Hue University under the direct management of the Ministry of Education and Training on the basis of reorganization of universities and colleges in the province of Thua Thien Hue.

Hue University is now one of the key national universities, a big hub of training, scientific research, technology transfer, international cooperation in the Central Vietnam, Highlands and the whole country. In the recent years, Hue University has established its position, its reputation in the higher education system of Vietnam; is a part of the cultural elite of Hue City, a big intellectual cradle, an important talent nursery address of the country. In 2016, Hue University was ranked in the top 350 universities in Asia and top 4 universities in Vietnam (QS University Rankings Asia).

In the past 60 years, Hue University won many awards: First Class Liberation Medal for the youth, students, pupils of Hue City (1975), Third-Class Independence Medal ( 1998), Second-Class Independence Medal(2002), First-Class Independence Medal (2012).

With outstanding achievements in education and training, in the occasion of celebration of 60 years of founding and development, Hue University was hornored and awarded First-Class Labor Medal by the President. The reward, which has significant meaning to managers, teachers, officers and students, confirms the strong and comprehensive development of Hue University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Phung Xuan Nha praised teachers and students of Hue University for the achievements in the past 60 years and hoped that Hue University will continue the tradition of a university with a more than half a century history and believed that Hue University will become stronger in the time to come.

Minister Phung Xuan Nha urged Hue University to reform university governance in order to improve the quality of education and scientific research; to review and plan training programs with HU's present conditions to ensure the training quality of the member institutions and to better serve the economic and social development needs of the central provinces and central highlands; to boost scientific research in order to better address the practical problems at the central provinces; to focus in developing highly qualified staff, faculty, scientists; to boost accreditation activities, to improve the efficiency of international cooperation activities; to perform financial autonomy effectively.

At the ceremony, The Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Cao on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee welcomed, praised and congratulated the results, achievements, significant contributions to the development of the Hue University economics - society, contribute to improving the status of the province during the past 60 years.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cao hoped that the intellectual team of Hue University would actively and proactively participate in the provincial economic and social development program; transfer scientific and technological knowledge in production in order to improve productivity and exploit potentials, specific advantages, contributing to building a increasingly prosperous Thua Thien Hue province. Mr. Nguyen Van Cao was confident that with its position as a major university, a high quality multi-disciplinary training center of the country, Hue University will continue to grow and soon become a high quality, widely known and brandname university.

In recognition of the outstanding achievements of Hue University in the past 60 years, the provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, People's Council, the Provincial Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front offered a veil for the generations of Hue University staff, faculty and staff: "Dynamic, Quality, Integration, Development for High Quality Human Resource Training".

At the ceremony, HE.Mr.Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, revealed his high opinion of the development of the Hue University in building collaborative relationships with Australian universities. On this occasion, Mr. Craig Chittick gave the certificate of Mai Lan Kunzy scholarships awarded by the University of Queensland for staff and students of Hue University in the field of health.
