Hue University conferred the title of Honorary Professor to two professors from Okayama University – Japan (12-09-2016 15:47)

In the morning of September 9th, at Hue University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University respectfully presented the certificates of honorary professor to Prof. Kiyoshi Morita and Prof. Kim Doo Chul from Okayama University, Japan.

 

Prof. Kiyoshi Morita (born in 1949) is currently President of Okayama University. His most prominent contribution to Hue University is in training area. The International Joint Master's Program in Sustainability of Rural and Environmental Systems (InMaPRES), Okayama University - Japan and Hue University was opened in 2007, nine courses successfully conducted with a total number of 72 students in which 56 students graduated. Okayama University has granted scholarships to all of these students. Prof. Kiyoshi Morita has also very effectively supported Hue University in other fields, especially scientific research.

 

 

Prof. Kim Doo Chul (born in 1964) has made a special contribution as a program coordinator and supervisor of Vietnamese Masters and PhD students of this program. Besides, Prof. Kim Doo Chul has conducted numerous research projects over the past 10 years in Vietnam on the management of natural resources, especially forests, lagoons and promoting the value of local culture and tourism, etc.

 

Prof. Kiyoshi Morita and Prof. Kim Doo Chul are the 25th and 26th professors awarded honorary professors by Hue University.

 

 

On this occasion, Prof. Kiyoshi Morita, President of Okayama University respectfully awarded the certificate of Honorary Doctorate to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan was the 4th professors, who was conferred the title of honorary doctorate by Okayama University for great contributions to the development of cooperation with Okayama University.

 

Earlier, on July 19th 2016, in Japan, Okayama University held an event to honor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan - President of Hue University for his exceptional leadership from the beginning stages of course development and his efforts to expand international exchange programs for both universities.

 

 

On October 13th 2006, Hue University and Okayama University signed the first Memorandum of Understanding. On September 20th 2007, President of Hue University and President of Okayama University signed an agreement on the opening of International Joint Master's Program in Sustainability of Rural and Environmental Systems. The program is entering its tenth year. Looking back on the past, it can be said that those achievements proved the success of the bilateral partnership between the two universities.

 

During the second half of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University and Prof. Kiyoshi Morita, President of Okayama University signed an agreement to continue the program, opening up the prospect of long-term cooperation between Okayama University and Hue University in the field of agriculture and environment, which will be the premise for cooperation in other fields in the future.
