International Conference on Emergency Medicine 2017 (27-04-2017 09:22)

On 26 - 27/4/2017, University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hue University in collaboration with the Vietnamese Society of Emergency Medicine and Hue Central Hospital, with the support of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine organized a series of 1 conference and 10 training workshops in the field of Emergency General under the theme "Acceptance & Monitoring for Critically Ill Patients" in Hue City, gathering hundreds of local and international experts from the United States, Canada, France, Japan, and Singapore, etc.

In recent years, emergency medicine has received increased attention from Vietnam Government and Vietnam Ministry of Health, the emergency medicine network came into being and made significant progress, which has contributed effectively to the protection of people's health. The Vietnam Society of Emergency Services (VSEM) has played a significant role to this development through training, transfer of many advanced technologies, and active support in the network development. Despite of the initial achievements, the emergency sector still faces many difficulties such as lack of human resources, training, and equipment.

 

The International Conference on Emergency Medicine 2017 with focus on Acceptance and Monitoring for Critically Ill Patients aimed to update with professional knowledge, achievements and scientific reports of emergency medicine during the year and to create a forum for hundreds of international speakers, leading experts and doctors from USA, Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and hundreds of local doctors, managers from Ministry of Health, leaders of hospital, nurses of all hospitals along Vietnam - a golden opportunity for those working in the field of emergency care to ask questions, participate in discussions and gain new insights in evaluating Critically Ill Patients so as to offer the most effective treatment.

 

Ten of seminars with 60 presentations, reports and a forum, hosted at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue Central Hospital, Indochine Palace Hotel attracted more than 30 international reporters, nearly 100 participants from the United States, Canada, France, Japan, Singapore and 300 local participants. The following topics were discussed: update on new lung protection strategy on ARDS patients; Hypothermia therapy in critical ill patients & Procalcitonin in Sepsis; Cardiovascular monitoring and management; Stroke & anaphylasis management and monitoring; Blood gases, electrolyte & GI emergency in EM, etc.

 

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hue University is the first unit in the country to be granted the code for  emergency medicine undergraduate training program in 2011. In 2016, after preparing sufficient human resources and facilities, the emergency medicine training center at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy in accordance with The American Heart Association's standard has come into operation. The University's Emergency Medicine Training Center is now the official representative of the

American Heart Association in Vietnam to organize, administer and implement emergency medicine training in accordance with the standards of this association.
