Mekong Institute paid a courtesy visit to Hue University, MI's Council member and key partner in Vietnam (26-10-2017 10:34)

On October 24, 2017, the delegation of Mekong Institute led by Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, Executive Director paid a courtesy visit to Hue University. Assoc.Prof.Dr.Nguyen Quang Linh, President of Hue University hosted the meeting.

 

 

The MI delegation included Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, Executive Director; Ms. Pornwilai Pumira, External Relations Manager; Mr.  Nguyen Nhat An, Project Team Leader, EWEC-SDC Project in Vietnam and Ms. Hong Anh Nguyen, M&E Officer. Accompanying the delegation were Ms. Orarin Mulakut, Senior Economist from Bank of Thailand (Northeast Branch); 05 reporters from The Nation (Thailand), Vietnam Express International and Vietnam News (Vietnam).

 

At the meeting, Dr. Watcharas Leelawath confirmed that the delegation would like to visit Hue University because Hue University is MI's Council member and one of MI's key partners in Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen Quang linh expressed his gladness to witness the good relationship between the Mekong Institute and Hue University. From 2014, in addition to participating in annual activities and forums, Hue University participated the project "Regional and Local Economic Development - East West Economic Corridor" (RLED-EWEC) implemented in Quang Tri, sent lecturers of Quang Tri Branch of Hue University to the training course on sustainable energy for rural areas, etc. 

 

 

The Institute of Mekong is an intergovernmental organization, sponsored by the six GMS countries of Cambodia, China (Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The operational objective of MI is through human resource development and capacity building to contribute to sustainable socio-economic development, poverty reduction in GMS countries and to promote GMS regional co-operation and integration. Hue University and Khon Kaen University are the two academic representatives in the MI Council.
