Opening ceremony for the first class of Tourism Management and Leisure Industry (08-02-2007 10:01)

Upon carrying out the collaborative training program for high-quality human resources, particularly administrative staff, to meet the international standard in tourism industry, which is the leading economic field in the Central area and Thua Thien Hue Province particularly, Hue University held the Opening Ceremony for the first BA class of Tourism Management and Leisure Industry, which includes 31 students, on February 02, 2007.

The training program is implemented under terms outlined in the agreement signed on June 06, 2006 between Hue University and University of Applied Sciences ICM Krems- Austria, for the collaboration in carrying out the VATP (Vietnamese – Austrian Tourism Program).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen van Toan, President of Hue University; Ms. Katharina Park, Austrian Embassy Counsellor in Vietnam; Mr. Berndt Tilp, on behalf of Krems University- Austria, attended the ceremony.

This program is aimed at establishing and transferring advanced higher education training framework, which facilitates students through on-site study and foreign degrees. The program is implemented following the credit model. Students learn foreign languages and specialties for 3 years and a half at Hue University ( 1 introductory year + 2.5 years for specialties). After a three-and-a-half-year section in Hue University, students will fulfill their (at least) 22-week practicum in Austria. English is used as a medium of instructions and also for writing and defending dissertations. Teachers taking part in teaching this class include outstanding lecturers of Hue University and KREM University- Austria.  

Evaluation on the success of this pilot program will help extend other new co-operation programs in the fields of interest for both parties.
