The PM asked the university's leadership to focus on suitable models to facilitate teaching, learning and researching activities as well as measures to upgrade the infrastructure.

He urged Hue University to do a fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, to meet the requirements for industrialisation and modernisation in the market economy and international integration.

The Government leader stated that Hue University should encourage scientific knowledge, self-study methods and soft skills among students, as well as enhance the application of high technology in teaching. It is also essential to meet social demands.

PM Phuc also noted the importance of the connection with companies and close links with local authorities to help students in seeking jobs after graduation.

President of Hue University Nguyen Quang Linh briefly reported to the Prime Minister the outstanding achievements of Hue University, favorable conditions and challenges and proposals to the Prime Minister.

Currently, Hue University has nearly 3,900 administrative and academic staff, including nearly 250 professors and associate professors. The scientific researches conducted by the university has created hundreds of new technological products.

Hue University was awarded many noble awards by the State: first-class Medal of Liberation (1975); Third Class Independence Medal (1998), second-class Independence Medal (2002) and first-class Independence Medal (2012); Many Certificates of Merit, Emulation Flags from Vietnam Government, Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training, many other ministries and branches. In 2017, Hue University was once more time honored to receive the first-class Labor Medal. Affiliated universities were also awarded by the Government:

- The University of Medicine and Pharmacy was awarded Labor Hero title;

- The University of Agriculture and Forestry was awarded the first-class Independence Medal;

- The University of Sciences was awarded the first-class Labor Medal and the second-class Independence Medal;

- The University of Education was awarded the first-class Independence Medal;

- The University of Foreign Languages was awarded the third-class Labor Medal;

- The University of Economics, Continuing Education Center, Education Center were awarded second-class Labor Medals.
