The team of HUS at the opening ceremony of the 25th National Math Olympiad for Students

There were nearly 1,000 students from 90 universities, colleges and institutions across the country attending the contest in two subjects - Algebra and Analytics. HUS team consisted of 06 members (02 lecturers and 04 students of Faculty of Mathematics) in Table A: For Specialized Mathematics Units. The students, who won the two Third Prizes, were:

1. Tran Viet Hieu, Class K37, Third Prize in Algebra category

2. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nhi, Class K37, Third Prize in Analytics category

With the prestige and a quarter-century history, the National Math Olympiad for Students has made great contributions to identify and support excellent students in Mathematics, as well as to improve the teaching quality of teachers and the Mathematics study of students in Vietnamese colleges and universities. The results of the annual National Mathematical Olympiads has been an important criteria for the National Program for the Development of Mathematics until 2020 (NPDM) to evaluate candidates for its scholarships. NPDM has allocated annually 5 to 6 scholarships to the students of Faculty of Mathematics, HUSC since the academic year 2012-2013. Currently, each scholarship values at 16 million VND.

The contest was held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Establishment and Development of Phu Yen University. Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of Hue University of Sciences, came to give congratulation the lecturers, teachers and students of Phu Yen University, one of joint training partners of HUSC.
