Construction commencement ceremony of Obstetrics and Gynecology Center - 17/03/2022
On the morning of March 7, 2022, the Italian ODA Project Management Board of Hue University and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University held the ground-breaking ceremony of the high-tech Obstetrics and Gynecology Center of the Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University with the ODA capital from the Italian Republic and the reciprocal capital from Vietnam. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Antonio Alessandro, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Enrico Padula, Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Michele Boario, representative of the Italian Development Cooperation office in Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of Hue University Council; and Dr. Truong Quy Tung, Vice President of Hue University, Director of the ODA Italia Project Management Unit of Hue University.

 

 

The 7-storey high-tech Obstetrics and Pediatrics Center with a total floor area of nearly 12,000 m2, was started with the procurement of medical equipment, operating room equipment, and anti-infection equipment from the Italian ODA. The building would contribute significantly to improving the capacity of the Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. Moreover, it marked the successful step for the cooperation between Vietnam and Italy, between the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and its Italian partners.

 

On this occasion, the Italian Government, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and its Italian partners held a memorial ceremony and awarded the Order of the Star of Italy to Dr. Carlo Urbani, who was a doctor and a microbiologist, gave his life for research on the epidemic of SARS in 2003.
