Participants to the workshop from Thua Thien Hue provincial agencies included leaders of provincial committees, departments; representatives of social and professional organizations. Participants from Hue University (HU) included Dr. Truong Quy Tung – Vice President and representatives of HU’s colleges. Scientists from 19 universities, centers and institutes across the country were present at the seminar. A large number of administrative staff, faculty and students from HU attended.

Conference organizing committee received a total of 65 reports from scholars, researchers, staff, faculty from various universities, centers, institutes and some schools across Vietnam. The conference’s 4 themes included The formation and development of Vietnam - United States (VN-US) bilateral relation; Developments of VN-US relation from 1995 - 2015; Prospects of VN-US relation in current Asia - Pacific region relations; Research and teaching VN-US bilateral relations at Vietnam universities, colleges, and high schools.

The workshop aims to look back on 20 years of Vietnam - United States relation with scientific and objective viewpoints. Since 1995, the VN-US relation has developed further dynamically, continuously with many important development milestones and achieved positive, healthy and targeted progress. The conference expected the VN-US relation to develop into strategic partnershipin the future; practical benefits to the two people; peace, stability, cooperation and development for Asia - Pacific region and the world. The workshop also forecasted the development of VN-US relation in the coming period in the context of regional and global relations full of opportunities and challenges.

This workshop is also an opportunity to promote exchanges between domestic scientists and to strengthen cooperation between Hue University’scolleges and relevant authorities. This is one of the practical activities on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relation between Vietnam and the United States.
