This is an important milestone for the cooperation between the two sides, especially in the field of cardiology, laying the foundation for future cooperation in the medical field. The achievements in cardiology have contributed to the success of the Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University - the first medical practical training institution in Vietnam ranked Hospital Class I.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Si Huyen, Chairman of the German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology and Prof. Volker Klauss from University of Munich, Germany (German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology) was awarded the Certificate of Merit and Badge of Good People Good Deed by the Chairman of TTHue Provincial People's Committee for their contributions to the development of procincial medicine. At the same time, Hue University also conferred the title of honorary professor to Prof. Nguyen Si Huyen, Chairman of the German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology. Also during the ceremony, Prof. Cao Ngoc Thanh, Rector of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University presented the title of Visiting Professors to 8 professors of the German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee and Prof. Cao Ngoc Thanh, Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, awarding the title of Honorary Professor of Hue University to Prof. Nguyen Si Huyen, Chairman of the German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology.

Immediately after the celebration, 2017 Symposium on German-Vietnamese Cardiology with the theme "Updates on Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiology", was held with 18 presentations, which included in-depth knowledge in the field of Cardiology of professors with high expertise. Also, during this visit, the professors from University of Munich, Germany (German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology) applied high technology and cooperated with the Hospital of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University to conduct operations free of charge in patients with severe coronary artery disease.

The German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology was established in April 1997 at an annual meeting of the German Cardiac Society in Mannheim, Germany. 6 months after the founding of the German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology, a delegation visited Hue University of Medicine (now University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University) and started the program of doctor training, particularly in the field of cardiology. In 1986, Prof. Nguyen Si Huyen (Chairman of the German Association of Cardiology) is one of the first to introduce ultrasound training in Vietnam and at Univeristy of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue Univerisity) which enhanced knowledge and diagnosis capacity of HU instructors, physicians and medical students. For years, German-Vietnamese Association of Cardiology has been very active in inviting professors, doctors, cardiologists from European countries to teach and transfer advanced technology for University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. Many activities are very practical and effective. The number of German professors and doctors which joins the groups increases each year. Thanks to the efforts of the German-Vietnamese cardiovascular team, intensive units of the hospital such as sleep probe, DSA, etc. were established; many high technologies have been deployed such as Ultrasound through esophagus, Coronary angiography through rotary artery, Dual chamber cardiac pacing, etc.
