Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue provincial People's Committee gave speech at the opening session

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue People's Committee; Assoc.Prof.Dr.Nguyen Quang Linh, President of Hue University; Leaders, scientists, science and technology managers/ staff of the VETEC project's partner universities, which are Hanoi University of Technology, Can Tho University, Hue University, Brussel Liberal University (Belgium), Aveiro University (Portugal); Dresden University of Technology (Germany).

The workshop will take place in two weeks from May 28 to June 8, 2018 with reports from MOST, Hue University, Vietnam universities on the following topics: Introduction to the technology transfer models in Vietnam; Introduction of laws relating to technology transfer in Vietnam; Overview of technology transfer, startup in Vietnam and more particularly, at Hue University; Visit to the models of technology transfer in Thua Thien Hue, and at Hue University; Enhancement of KTT (Knowledge and Technology Transfer) and University - Industry linkage for the suitable development in VN; Introduction to industrial ecology system; Innovation and industrial cycle; University spin-off model: how to shorten the gap between creativity and commercialization; Experiences in building a strategy for starting a business, transferring technology in European universities.

Speaking at the opening session of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the active participation of local scientific and technological departments and organizations, including Hue University in implementing thousands of basic research and application projects at ministerial and provincial levels. Hue University as an important force in the field of science and technology has solved many issues of the province, contributing to the province's development.

VETEC project is funded by European Union under the framework of the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 (Program for Capacity Building in Higher Education). The VETEC project aims to build training models for staff-to-leaders in support of Vietnamese universities and relevant units to enhance technology transfer capacity (KTT) to increase knowledge transfer opportunities.

Participating in this project, Vietnamese universities will learn to build and enhance their KTT capacity through developing academic leadership on KTT, strengthening educational capacity in KTT, establishing networks on KTT education and policy among Vietnamese stakeholders and between local and European stakeholders, and by gleaning the European partners’ insights on international KTT. After the closing of the project, the results will be used in KTT training programs.
