University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University was founded in 1996 as a Clinical Center. In 1998, Clinical Center grew to become the Center for Clinical Medicine Research with a scale of 50 patient beds. To meet increasing demand for practice, scientific research and medical examination, in 2002, the Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy was established on the basis of Center for Clinical Medicine Research. Being a general hospital with the initial size of 300 patient beds, it has all functions and tasks as prescribed by the State. With the aim of developing into a modern University Hospital, Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University is constantly investing in infrastructure, equipment and highly qualified labor forces and spearhead specialized fields. In 2014, the hospital was recognized as a Class I hospital. 

At present, Hue University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy has fully developed, is a comprehensive hospital with a scale of 700 patient beds; Highly qualified staff with 44 professors, associate professors, 38 doctors, 102 masters, 79 specialists I & II among 711 employees. 

Over the past five years, the hospital has treated more than 2,032,000 patients with a total of 7,647,000 visits. With achievements in 20 years of development, Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University has awarded many certificates of merit. On the occasion of 20th anniversary, Hospital of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President.
