Conference on University Autonomy

Hue University is one of three key regional universities offering multi-disciplinary training, includes 8 member universities, 1 branch, 2 affiliated schools, 9 centers and research institutes. Confirming that autonomy is an indispensable trend of higher education, Hue University recently has released many guidelines and orientation on roadmap and prepared conditions for enhancing autonomy of member universities and affiliated units. Management decentralization has been strongly implemented to create optimal conditions for the affiliated members to develop and implement the roadmap toward university autonomy.

Speaking at the conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Nguyen Quang Linh, President of Hue University, said that Hue University has developed a roadmap toward university autonomy linking with the two-layer university model according to the Prime Minister's conclusion. In the 2018-2019 period, three member universities, including University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Law and University of Economics will implement university autonomy. Research institutes, centers and publishing houses will implement financial autonomy; In the 2019-2020 period, there will be 02 member universities, namely University of Agriculture of Forestry, University of Foreign Languages. According to plan, the three remaining universities will follow after that. Hue University will supervise, support, facilitate the process. The President of Hue University urged leaders of member universities and affiliated units to actively study different models, methods and be determined to successfully implement the task.
