NutriSEA (2015 - 2018): University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University opened a new undergraduate course in Food Safety

From 2015-2018, Hue University has implemented NutriSEA project and reaped considerable results with the aim to build human resource capacity to ensure a sustainable food value chain model based on entrepreneurship and creating added value to the natural resources supporting food production in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar), to enhance university- enterprise cooperation as well as regional and (inter)national cooperation and networking.

The specific objectives are to reform curricula related to food production at BA/MA level at the 6 partner universities, in line with the new regional developments and the locally developed evidence-based market demands by 2018. There will also be a strong focus on teaching methodologies, including the use of ICT, and enterprises will be actively involved in defining Learning Outcomes and offering internships; to set-up or reinforce Technology Transfer Units at the partner universities which focus on university-enterprise cooperation and innovation. The aim is to set up a regional food network with all relevant stakeholders (universities, enterprises, authorities) by the end of the project

 

At present, Hue University has completed the opening procedure of a new program and the first enrollment of the Bachelor program in Food Safety at University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University. Also within the framework of the project, Hue University has updated the content and training methods of the Master's program in Food Technology.

 

In addition to the development of training programs, the project has assisted Hue University in re-training faculty to improve their language competence, research skills, soft skills and teaching methods, general management knowledge with focus on food industry with topics such as start-up, improving efficiency, quality management; fostering staff in charge of intellectual property and technology transfer, start-ups; developing international cooperation strategies, exchange management, management of international cooperation units, project management, etc.
