University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University won First Prize in Medicine - Vietnam Talent Award 2017 (22-11-2017 10:04)

 

The cluster of scientific research projects "The application of advanced techniques in female reproductive health care and improving the quality of population" of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University is awarded first prize in the field of Medicine by Vietnam Talent Award 2017 (Nhân Tài Đất Việt 2017).

 

Launched by Vietnam Association for Promoting Education in 2005, the Vietnam Talent Award has entered its 13th year, becoming a nationally recognized award. The award honors individuals and groups having robust projects that are having a great influence and positive contribution to society.

 

This year, the organizers of the Award found many works which have had a great effect on community's living. The cluster of scientific research projects "The application of advanced techniques in female reproductive health care and improving the quality of population" by the group led by Prof.Dr.Cao Ngoc Thanh from University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.

 

Minister of Health Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and Prof.Dr.Nguyen Thi Doan - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education awarded the first prize in the field of Medicine to Prof.Dr.Cao Ngoc Thanh, Rector of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.

 

The cluster of the three research projects had been conducted with great efforts for many years. The first project is a nationwide, large-scale and in-depth study of pre-eclampsia - eclampsia, a common medical health problem and one of the leading causes of maternal and fetal death in pregnancy. The second study applied various diagnosis methods of uterine tubo-peritoneal infertility, applied endoscopic surgery to treat uterine tubo congestion, dissection and/or reconstruction of the fistula, keep track and evaluate treatment results of uterine tubes and post-treatment pregnancy status of the women in the Central region and Highlands of Vietnam. The last project targeting women in Thua Thien Hue Province offers a number of measures to prevent female genital HPV infection and helps to push the use of VIA methods for cervical cancer screening at all health care units, especially at district and commune levels, where treatment resources are limited.
