Attendants of the opening session included Prof. Nguyen Dai Hung, President of Vietnam Physical Society, Chairman of the Conference; Prof. Nguyen Duc Chien, President of Vietnam Materials Research Society, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha, Deputy Director General of the Department of Social and Natural Sciences, Ministry of Science and Technology, Co-Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, Vice President of VNU Hanoi; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice President of VNU Hanoi; Dr. Do Thi Xuan Dung, Vice President of Hue University, and many scientists, lecturers and PhD students, graduate students and undergraduate students.

The conference focused on 5 topics, namely Physics and Magnetic Materials, Semiconductor Physics - Dielectric, Materials - Components, Semiconductor - Dielectric, Medical - Biological - Agricultural Materials, Energy - Environment, Magnetic Materials and Super conductor; attracted more than 300 physicists from many international and domestic universities and research institutes; and featured more than 100 oral presentations and 240 poster presentations. Of the more than 260 full-text reports sent to the Conference Organizing Committee, the Conference Sub-Committee for Publications together with Journal of Science and Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) chose 40 articles to publish in the Journal and other full text reports to publish in the conference proceedings.

The 10th National Conference on Solid State Physics and Materials Science is a great, prestigious scientific forum that attracts the attention of Vietnamese scientific community and is a venue to meet, discuss and update on latest advances in the field of Solid State Physics and Materials Science. The conference is held every two years continuously since 1995. Especially, this conference is the 20th anniversary of the call by Prof.Acad. Nguyen Van Hieu for Vietnamese physicists to pioneer in the study of nanoscience and technology at the National Conference on Solid State Physics in Do Son in 1997. 

The 10th National Conference on Solid State Physics and Materials Science in Hue was an opportunity for managers, physicists in Hue to meet, discuss, learn with leading physics professors in the country, and to open up opportunities for collaborative research in the future. Young physicists, graduate students and undergraduate students had an rare opportunity to meet, learn and acquire new knowledge and research methods.
