At the ceremony, Ho Viet Duc, a freshman at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University received the Labor Order, Second Class for having excellent achievement in the International Biology Olympiad 2020.

Ho Viet Duc has had a lot of prizes in the national and provincial competitions. In 2017-2018 school year, he won the Gold medal at the Olympic competitions for students at gifted high schools in the North Coast and Delta region. In 2018-2019 school year, Duc got the First prize at the provincial excellent student competition and the Second prize at the National excellent student competition. Especially, in 2019-2020 school year, he won the First prize for Biology in the National excellent student and the Gold medal at the International Biology Olympiads 2020. He then was the direct offer holder to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University in 2020-2026 academic year.

In 2020, in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, Vietnamese teams competed in online International Olympiads with five groups of students. Achievements were nine gold medals, eight silver medals, five bronze medals, and two certificates of merit.
