International Workshop on “Asian biotechnology: research and application” (23-02-2016 00:49)

On January 29th, College of Sciences - Hue University and Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB) co-organize the international seminar on “Asian biotechnology: research and application 2016” at Green Hotel, Hue City. Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Permanent Deputy Chairman of provincial People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Dr. Truong Quy Tung, Deputy Presidents of Hue University attend the opening session of the workshop.

The workshop is a forum for scientists working at universities, research institutes, high-tech companies from Vietnam and other AFOB’s member nations to meet, discuss and publicize their recent researches. This year's seminar attracts more than 100 representatives from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia, India and 160 domestic managers, scientists and experts in the field of biotechnology, representatives of Vietnam ministries, departments, organizations and interested individuals. Nearly 100 scientific reports on Biotechnology in agriculture and food; microbiological applications; pharmaceutical technology and biomedicine; biocatalysis and protein; environmental biotechnology are presented. Selected papers will be published in the special issue of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology’s prestigious journal "Biotechnology".

 

In the welcome speech at the seminar, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho said that development of knowledge economy, green economy on the basis of science and technology is the development model adopted by Thua Thien Hue provincial leaders to speed up social and economic development of the province towards sustainability to make Hue become a cultural, ecological, landscape and environment-friendly city. This workshop, therefore, is a good opportunity for local biotechnology researchers to exchange ideas, learn various models and share lessons learned to develop biological research, technology application models suitable with the current development conditions of Vietnam and the province, and to meet the development trend of biotechnology in the region and the world.

 

The seminar takes place for 3 days from 28-30/1/2016.
