At the meeting, Prof. Nguyen Van Toan expressed the pleasure to receive the delegation and hoped that an MOU will be discussed and signed by the two parties in the future basing on the similarities between Hue city and Namur city as well as between Hue University and University of Namur.

In regard to partnership with Belgium, in 2010, Hue University and Ghent University entered into a cooperation agreement in the framework of LOTUS project (Linking Organizations Though University Synergy) - an EM Action 2 Partnership program of European and Asian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Associations aiming at fostering mutual enrichment and better understanding between the EU and Asia through exchange programs. Besides, Hue University is implementing the Institutional University Program (IUC), one of the most important cooperation with a total funding of 2.1 million euros from VLIR-UOS. The program is expected to last in 6 years and focus on major problems: university management, research on technology transfer to community in the fields of aquaculture and livestock, lagoon environment with climate change and rural health.
