Opening ceremony for the third cohort of the Advanced Program in Agricultural Economics and Finance (14-11-2012 08:00)

On November 11, 2012, Hue University College of Economics organized the opening ceremony for the third cohort of Advanced Program in Advanced Program on Agricultural Economics and Finance, a joint program between Hue University College of Economics and the University of Sydney, Australia. The ceremony received Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University, Dr. David Godden, Lecturer of the Faculty of Agricultural System and Resources, Dr. ShyamalChowdhury, Lecturer of the Faculty of Agricultural System and Resources, the University.

The Advanced Program Agricultural Economics and Finance, (USYD), Australia is under the project "Training Advanced programs in some universities of Vietnam in the period 2008-2015" of the Ministry of Education and Training. Students in the program are taught by professors from the University of Sydney and experienced lecturers of Hue University College of Economics. In the first year of their five-year program, students will mainly study English. For the next four years, they will study the training program of the University of Sydney. Students who complete the program will be conferred Dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Agricultural Economics and Finance.

Final-year students will have opportunities to study at the University of Sydney, and be granted degrees by the University of Sydney. Bachelor degrees under the advanced program are considered international degrees in terms of English proficiency and qualification for higher education. Currently, there are three cohorts with more than 160 students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan appreciates the sustainability of the program and hopes that two universities will strengthen the cooperation in the future.
