4th Review Meeting of ASEAN International Mobility for Students Programs (16-11-2012) (16-11-2012 11:00)

The 4th Review Meeting of ASEAN International Mobility for Student Programs – AIMS took place at Hue University on November 15-16, 2012. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training, and Regional Integration in Higher Education in Southeast Asia (SEAMEO-RIHED) aiming to enhance collaborative relationship between universities in the region on student mobility and credit transfer.

Attendants are representatives of ministries of education and universities from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei and Vietnam. Vietnam Vice Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga was present at the Meeting.

The Program is the continuance of the 3rd review meeting of MIT (Malaysia – Indonesia – Thailand) program in Penang - Malaysia in March 2012, Vietnam was accepted as the fourth member. Since then the name of the program was changed to ASEAN International Mobility for Students (AIMS) with the hope to expand its scope to other countries in the region and the world. As proposed by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, the 4th  Review Meeting of AIMS Programme washeld on 15- 16 November 2012 in Hue – Vietnam.

At the meeting, discussions were focused on improving research activities, raising budget for scholarship, increasing the number of mobility students. It is estimated to have 10 countries participating in the programme in 2015.

The meeting received reports from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam and reports on potentials and preparations from Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines, those who will attend the Program.
