President of Hue University received and worked with the Director of Mekong Institute (MI) (28-06-2014 09:00)

On June 27, 2014 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University received and worked with Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, the Director of Mekong Institute (MI).

The visit of the MI’s Director aimed to ask for HueUniversity’s assistance in recommending an expert to join in the EWEC (the East- West Economic Corridor) economic development project which is being executed by the MI in Quang Tri province in order to overcome difficulties, make a common contribution to the development of countries along the EWEC.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan appreciated the MI’s activities and HueUniversity’s effort to be a member of MI’s Council . He said that Hue University was willing to recommend experienced staff for joining in the project and Hue University expected to tighten the relationship with the Institute through activities of research cooperation, conferences and meetings on fields that the two sides took care of and information on the Institute’s activities, courses and scholarships so that Hue University’s staff, lecturers and students had chances for participating in.

Dr. Watcharas Leelawath expressed his gladness to the good relationship between the Mekong Institute and HueUniversity. He revealed that in the coming period the Mekong Institute’s Director would send  letters of invitation and information relating to courses by the Mekong Institute to HueUniversity’s staff and students.

 It is known that the Mekong Institute is an intergovernmental organization founded and operated by 6 countries in the Mekong region (Myanmar, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam). The Institute focuses on studying, developing and enhancing the capacity of integration and cooperation for developing the region. The Institute also have had several useful training programs for staff and officers at related departments and sectors.
