The training workshop was expected to highlight the role and position of the EU and to review the current trends and policies of Vietnam-EU Partnership as well as the EU issues of relevance for Vietnam. Moreover, the training workshop would enable the Vietnamese beneficiaries to better comprehend the functioning of the EU, improve the working-level and relations of Vietnamese institutions and officials in their cooperation and interactions with EU-institutions and the officials of the EU and EU Member states, and to promote the overall EU-Vietnam relationship.

The training workshop invited national and international speakers such as  Prof. Steven Blockman, Head of EU Foreign Policy Unit, Brussels; Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung, former Vietnamese Ambassador to EU, Italy and France; Mr. Tran Duc Binh, ASEAN department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Truong Dinh Tuyen, Former Minister of Trade and Industry; Assoc. Prof. Hoang Huu Hanh, Director of International Cooperation Department, Hue University.
