Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam: 20 years of establishment and development (01-02-2016 00:00)

 

On January 23rd 2016, the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD), College of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University (HU-CoAF) celebrated the 20th Anniversary of its establishment (1995-2015) at College of Agriculture and Forestry, at No. 102 Phung Hung Str., Hue City. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Dung - Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Toan - President of Hue University, leaders of the following provincial departments: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Foreign Affairs, Provincial Police Department, Sub-department of Rural Development; the local authorities of CRD’s project sites, and CRD managers and staff through development periods of CRD.

 

To be so successful, CRD has received valuable assistance from partner organizations and active support from the leadership of Hue University and HU-CoAF of various periods, the effective cooperation from local authorities and residents, as well as the enthusiastic involvement of HU-CoAF faculty and CRD staff over the past 20 years. On that basis, CRD has made outstanding contribution to both the college and the society. On this occasion, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van An, acknowledged the achievements of the Centre:“The Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam has contributed significantly to the development of the college, especially in staff capacity building in both teaching and doing research.” 

 

Also at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Manh Quan, former Director of the CRD, one of the founding members, stated: “It can be said that CRD has been increasingly and enormously developing over the last 20 years, significantly contributing to HU-CoAF and the society. Being an officer working in the field of agriculture, I find nothing happier than helping the farmers with successful production and receiving positive evaluation by local authorities and residents. I hope that the Centre will maintain and further promote the brand identity that generations of staff have been developing over the last 20 years so as to contribute more for the college and the society”.

 

On this occasion, CRD was honorably awarded the Banner of Merit and Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for outstanding performance in 2014 – 2015 and Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People’s Committee for enormous contribution to the work of rural development, poverty reduction and hunger eradication in Thua Thien Hue Province .
