Opening of the International Conference on Public Economic Theory (PET) 2018 (08-06-2018 11:07)

In the morning of 06/06/2018, in Hue City, the University of Economics, Hue University in association with the Association for Public Economic Theory (APET) held an international conference on public economy theory (PET) 2018 with the participation of more than 200 delegates from nearly 20 countries and territories.

 

Attending the workshop were Mr.Phung Van Vinh, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Propaganda and Training of Thua Thien Hue Province; Dr. Do Thi Xuan Dung, Vice President of Hue University; Prof. Myrna Wooders, President of the Association for Public Economic Theory, France; Prof. Le Van Cuong, University of Paris 1 - Pantheon Sorbonne (France); Assoc.Prof.Dr.Tran Van Hoa, Rector of University of Economics, Hue University. 

 

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Van Hoa - Rector of the University of Economics delivered the opening speech and welcome to the workshop.

  

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Tran Van Hoa, Rector of the University of Economics said that in the context of globalization and the rise of the fourth industrial revolution, rapid changing socio-economic issues posed great challenges for the countries in choosing the right policies and management tools so as to restructure the economy, to change the institutional system, policies and to improve the effectiveness of national governance, ensuring stable and sustainable economic development. This requires scientists in each country to do research and exchange lessons learned to find appropriate management models to make best use of their countries' socio-economic advantages, thereby assisting the government in choosing the best path for development.

  

The Conference on Public Economic Theory (PET) 2018 is an opportunity for speakers and scientists to share their experiences in building capacity in teaching, research and consultancy in the formulation of fiscal policies, monetary policy, public investment, econometric model, etc. which proved the close cooperation among scientists from different countries in the world.

The workshop received 200 scientific papers, of which more than 100 were presented and discussed in parallel sessions, focusing on issues related to public economics such as analysis on public policy; public finance; effective distribution of taxes and government spending; the failure of the market and the role of the government; game theory; econometric models and overall equilibrium. 

 

The workshop will be concluded today, in the afternoon of June 8.
