Attendants of the workshop opening ceremony included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Loc Hung, Vice Rector of the College of Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Thi Dinh and Dr. Lai Xuan Thuy, the two Deputy Directors of Hue University Office for Quality Assurance and Higher Education Projects, together with 35 lecturers of the two Biology Departments of the Colleges of Science and Education, and of the Fishery Department of the College of Agriculture and Forestry.

The training workshop aimed at updating information and modern research management skills in biodiversity. It also created conditions for information exchange, orientation and corporation expansion in training and research in biodiversity between Hue University and Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences as well as other international institutions. The training workshop took place from Jan 5 to 12, 2009.
