Conference on mechanism of credit transfer system and quality assessment on training programs held by AUN (15-01-2009 15:02)
On accepting the invitation from ASEAN University Network (AUN), Associate-Professor Doctor Nguyen Duc Hung, Vice-President of Hue University (HU), Manager of Undergraduate Educational Project (UEP) Board and Doctor Lai Xuan Thuy, Manager of Educational Quality Assurance and Project Management Department, Permanent Member of UEP Board came to attend the third meeting on Actual Quality Assessment and the ninth Conference on Mechanism of Credit Transfer System among ASEAN universities held by AUN in Jakarta, Indonesia from  10th to 12th December, 2008.

The conference received the attendance of AUN leaders and evaluating experts, representatives from 21 universities of AUN, representatives from related Ministries of the host country and some international organizations. Hue University and Yunan University of China were invited to attend as observers.

At the conference, Ms. Nantana Gajaseni, Deputy Executive Director of AUN emphasized on AUN procedures for assuring quality and setting up credit transfer mechanism among the ASEAN countries in order that the exchanges of students, lecturers as well as academic activities would be enhanced among the universities within each country and among the countries within or out of ASEAN so as to effectively contribute to ASEAN community’s prosperity.

The representatives had a chance to observe actual working processes of the evaluating experts on two training programs: Mechanical Industry and Domestic Industry at Indonesia University. They also listened to speeches on the reality and mechanism of credit transfer system among the universities and provided their opinions for AUN report, which would be sent to Sampling Project of Credit Transfer within ASEAN at ASEAN Educational Office.

During their stay for the conference, the delegation from HU scheduled to work with AUN governors. The two parties agreed to increase their bilateral relationship so that Hue University would become a member of AUN soon. This could be considered an advantageous opportunity for HU to reinforce their cooperation with this organization as well as with the AUN fellow universities and the outstanding ones in ASEAN.

The delegation also paid a visit to Indonesia University and worked with their Quality Assurance Committee (QAC). Experiences in quality assurance activities and specific achievements in the last 5 years of QAC, then, were shared with HU delegation. Moreover, these HU’s partners expressed their eagerness in assisting HU with consultations for quality assurance tasks of the programs in Undergraduate Educational Project.

Also, the delegation managed time to discussed with representatives from some other universities at the Conference. They were Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh National University, Singapore National University, Malaya University and Chulalongkorn University and cooperation possibilities in Undergraduate Educational Project were the main topics of the discussions.
