Hue University has started post-graduate training since 1998.  Driving from the fact that the nation, especially provinces in the Central and the Highland, have strong demand of enhancing the qualification and profession for present staff as well as training and developing the human resource in general, Hue University has been clearly aware of the importance of training post-graduate level as one of the criteria in evaluating the development of a regional university.  Annually, Hue University is allowed to recruit 20 post-graduate students for Doctoral training.  Specifically, for the course 2008, the allocated number of doctoral students is 40.  Until now, after the 11 training courses, the total number of all doctoral students is 158 in which 56 have successfully defended their doctoral thesis.  Hue University has issued the decision on recognizing and awarding Doctoral degree for 53 doctoral students with 19 people achieving excellent results.

Besides the above-mentioned results, the training of doctoral students still faces some difficulties such as training management, teaching facility, finance, degree grant and so on.  At the conference, these issues were discussed to find solutions.

Presently, Hue University makes procedures on some specific issues including opening major codes, considering transfer study, evaluating graduation thesis at faculty and state levels.  As a result, the management and training of post-graduate level have been gradually made their shapes and have been carried out more scientifically. Also, at the conference, the reports on different issues were presented to participants including the report on some evaluation of the process of doctoral training management and on some solutions to enhance the quality of doctoral training, the report on doctoral training and management at different training centers of Hue University, the experience to complete doctoral thesis in due and so on.
