US Science Envoy visits Hue University (20-01-2015 02:51)

On January 14, US Science Envoy Dr. Geraldine Richmond, Professor of Chemistry at University of Oregon, President-elect of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), paid a visit to Hue University. The visit was part of her tour of duty in Vietnam in support of President Obama’s initiative to strengthen the United States’ science and education relationships overseas. Prof. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University, welcomed the delegation.

In light of the 20th anniversary of the normalization of US-Vietnam relations, the visit was to explore Vietnam’s science and education in order to strengthen mutual partnership in science and technology. At the meeting, Dr. Geraldine Richmond also expressed her interest in environmental and climate change-related issues. Besides, she wanted to promote scientific and technological cooperation with Hue University and its colleges.

Prof. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University, hoped that this visit would boost collaborative relationships between universities and institutions of the United States and Vietnam, especially Hue University in the future. 

After the meeting with Hue University, the delegation dropped by the Faculty of Environment, College of Sciences, Hue University.
