According to Decision No. 159/QD-BGDDT dated 01.13.2017 by Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, HU Deputy President is named HU President for the period 2016 to 2021 as Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, the former HU President’s presidential term came to an end and he reached his retirement age.

Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of Vietnam MOET, Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga congratulated and conferred the decision to the new HU President. Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga expressed his wishes that along with a sense of responsibility, scientific credibility, solidarity with friends and colleagues, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh will lead HU to develop more vigorously in the coming years. Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga highly valued the effectiveness of the contribution of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Toan during the last two terms in the position of Hue University president in building a solid foundation for the sustainable development, strengthening internal unity, promoting solidarity between HU and member colleges. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Toan was always devoted to the common goal, made considerable contribution through sharing many ideas and lessons learned in building the policy system of Vietnam higher education.

Mr. Le Truong Luu, Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Council presented flowers to congratulate Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, the new HU President affirmed the continue and further development of the achievements of the former president, insistence with the goals set out, and promised to mobilize all resources to build HU to become a strong regional university, a pioneer in Vietnam Central region and all over the country in the fields of training, research, science and technology transfer.
