In his speech at the ceremony, President Nguyen Quang Linh of Hue University recalled Vietnamese people's tradition of respecting teachers, appreciating teaching. Every year, Teachers' Day is the chance for Hue University to hornor the generations of teachers who have contributed greatly to the cause of education.

More than 60 years of development, Hue University has been developing in all aspects, becoming one of the prestigious higher education institutions, playing the pioneering role in implementing the mission of providing high quality human resources for the socio-economic development of Central Vietnam, Central Highlands and the whole country. In the academic year of 2017 - 2018, Hue University's teachers, administrators and workers actively strived and achieved many positive results in many fields.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr.Le Truong Luu acknowledged the contributions of Hue University managers and lecturers in the past and requested Hue University's professors and lecturers to accompany the province by deliberately cooperate with provincial departments and localities in studying, applying and transferring advances in information technology, environmental technology, hi-tech agriculture, processing industry, technologies in Hue cultural heritage conservation, medicine, etc. at the same time, participate in consulting and feedback on the province's policies, etc.

On this occasion, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Distinguished Teacher Nguyen Van Toan, former President of Hue University, was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President; Assoc.Prof.Dr.Distinguished Teacher Le Van Anh, former Vice President of Hue University and Prof.Dr.Distinguished Teacher Le Van Thuyet, former Chairman of Hue University Trade Union, former director of Hue University Department for Training, were awarded the Second Class Labor Medal.

Hue University presented 2018 awards for talented people to 02 individuals who successfully defended their dissertations abroad before deadlines; to 34 individuals who won national and international awards; to 151 individuals who have scientific works published in prestigious international scientific journals; to 6 research groups and 5 individuals who had the most scientific papers published in prestigious international scientific journals. The total value of the awards for talented individuals is more than 1 billion VND.
