For the past five years, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University has carried out 40 scientific tasks in the province. Previously, many of the university’s departments and offices contributed actively to the hunger elimination and poverty reduction. And for the scientific researches and technology transfers, they have performed 95 tasks with estimated cost of VND 100 billion since 2000.

Basing on the potentials and strengths of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, and the competitive advantages of Thua Thien Hue province, the rector board proposed 30 tasks and 10 programs of science and technology for the socio-economic and agricultural development in Thua Thien Hue province.

To promote the roles and potentials of research and applications of science and technology to agricultural production, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University expected to cooperate and support the agricultural sector of the province in order not only to have high - value agricultural products but to ensure the sustainability, protect ecological environment and adapt to climate change, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Hue University President appreciated the effort of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University in performing scientific tasks in Thua Thien Hue province in collaboration with the provincial leaders. He showed his expectation that other member universities of Hue University would join hands to have specific plans and programs on scientific researches and technology transfers, contributing to the development of Thua Thien Hue province.

At the meeting, the provincial departments and sectors valued research proposals and applications of science and technology and wished to carry out programs of agricultural development in the province.

To conclude, the Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Van Phuong affirmed that the province was willing to support ideas and programs that the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University proposed for implementation in the near future. He also told that the province would think of adding and mobilizing resources to collaborate with the University for the effective implementation and extension of research projects and applications of science and technology to agricultural production in the province.

Vice-Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong concluded the meeting.

“The province is now focusing on investments to develop cooperatives in connection with OCOP program. At the same time, there are policies attracting and calling for enterprises’ investment in agricultural development. These can be seen as favorable conditions for the university to deploy research projects of science and technology on agricultural development and high-tech application in large scale for the creation of high quality, clean and environment-friendly agricultural products.” Vice-Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong revealed.
