Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Hue University President welcomes H.E. Mr. Paul Jansen, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Vietnam. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Hue University President expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium for the cooperation in the past time. The President kindly informed of the cooperation activities between Hue University and Belgian partners. Especially, Hue University has cooperated with Belgian partners on a two-phase VLIR-IUC program with 4 projects (Institutional Strengthening; Develop and improve sustainable aquaculture and livestock production with comprehensive solutions for environmental pollution; Protection of Ecosystems and natural resources against economic development; Strengthening training and services at the grassroots level to improve Rural health care) since June, 2013. The 1st phase (2013-2018) focuses on capacity building. The 2nd phase (2019-2022) articulates the consolidation of achieved progress, sustainability of initiated change, and the valorization and expansion of achieved and envisaged impact. In 2019, there were 17 national and international research publications; 13 conferences and workshops, 10 Ph.D. students (2 successfully defended), and 3 postdoctoral scholarships.

In the early 2020, due to COVID 19 pandemic, most of the activities were canceled, affecting the project progress and Ph.D. students’ time of studying and research. On this occasion, the Ambassador expected to have a specific evaluation of the impacts of COVID 19 pandemic to the cooperation between the two countries and solutions to these difficulties.

Visiting Family Medical Center, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University

On the same day, the Ambassador with his delegation visited Hue University’s member institutions joining in VLIR-IUC program; the Family Medical Center, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, Thuy Duong Medical Center and Cau Hai lagoon.

A day before, H.E. Ambassador Paul Jansen had a diplomacy meeting with the Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong. The Ambassador expected to promote the cooperation relationship with Thua Thien Hue province in education and training, economic development, and tourism.
