Prof. Frank Morgan, Williams University, USA works with Department of Mathematics, Hue University College of Education (10-06-2011 06:50)

Upon his agenda in Asian countries such as Pakistan, Thailan, Singapore, Malaysia from April 19 to 21, Prof. Frank Morgan worked with Department of Mathematics, Hue University College of Education. He also involved in the workshop on "Activity Based Teaching and Learning of Mathematics: Soap Bubbles and Soap Films" organized by University Project 2 TRIG of Hue University in cooperation with Department of Mathematics, College of Education.

At the workshop, Prof. Morgan delivered lectures on Isoperimetric Problem, Mathematics and student's research. Research outcomes relating to Soap bubbles and Soap films that were done by Prof. Morgan with his colleagues and students at well-known universities in USA were also introduced.

Being a reputable American mathematician, Prof. Morgan is recognized worldwide through achievements in teaching and research including Award for Excellence in undergraduate teaching in 1982; Proof of Double bubble Theorem in 2000. He also released 150 articles and published 6 books. "Geometric measure theory" is one of the best of his on this field, which is translated to Russian and Japanese. Prof. Morgan, currently, is Vice President of Mathematics Association in USA, founder of SMALL undergraduate research project, and professor of such famous universities in USA as MIT, Princeton, Williams.

On this occasion, Prof. Ngo Dac Chung, Vice Rector was warmly welcomed Prof. Morgan and showed his expectation to receive more concerns from Prof. in developing faculty and staff for Department of Mathematics. Also, it is hoped that Prof. Morgan will be the connection for opportunities of research, study and introducing lecturers at Department of Mathematics to study and research at US universities.
