Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland visits Hue University College of Agriculture and Forestry (28-10-2012 12:00)

On October 26, 2012, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland H.E. MR. Kimmo Lahdevirta and his wife paid a visit to Hue University College of Agriculture and Forestry. They were received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hieu, Rector of College of Agriculture and Forestry and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Manh Quan, Director of Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam, College of Agriculture and Forestry.

At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Manh Quan spoke briefly about the history of cooperation between Hue University College of Agriculture and Forestry and the Embassy of Finland. In recent years, the Embassy of Finland funded many projects regarding climate change in Central Vietnam which were implemented by Centre for Rural Development. Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Manh Quan also reported achievements when the project on “Enhancing capacity for climate change adaption in community in Quang Tri province” was finished. Currently, the Embassy of Finland has funded the project on “Enhancing capacity for climate change adaption and mitigation in agricultural production at sandy area of Quang Tri province”. This project has started in July 2012 and will complete on June 2014.

Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Minh Hieu said that climate change was one of the most urgent issues and hoped that more projects in collaboration with the Embassy of Finland would be implemented.

After the meeting, they visited the Center for Rural Development, College of Agriculture and Forestry.
