The Institutional University Programme (IUC) in budgetary terms, is the single most important programme that VLIR-UOS is implementing in order to contribute to achieving its overall objective to support southern institutions of research and higher education to fulfill their three-pronged role in education, research and social service. This objective is realized through a partnership with Flemish universities and university colleges.

Based on the IUC selection criteria, Hue University is recommended as Vietnamese Partner University for Institutional University Cooperation (IUC) under the next VLIR-UOS Country Strategy for Vietnam.

Hue University (HU)- IUC programme by VLIR-OUS will be implemented in 2013 for two phases. Each phase is 6 years and 2012 is a preparation year.

The formulation workshop taking place from August 13 to 16, 2012 is considered as a preparation step for a sustainable programme with the support of Ghent University for project groups on capacity building, research and technical transfer in fields of food and nutrition, environment and climate change, and rural health care.
