At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Hue University President affirmed: ”After 11 years of implementing Conclusion 48-KL/TW dated May 25, 2009 by the Political Bureau on building and developing Thua Thien Hue and Hue urban area to 2020 and developing Hue University into the National University, Hue University has had outstanding achievements on its fields. The number and quality of undergraduate and graduate training programs have increased more and more. The number of international publications has increased dramatically on the list of WoS (ISI) and Scopus.”

Hue University President requested that the Ministry of Education and Training soon issued the decision of establishment of the Steering Committee and the Committee to set up the project of promoting Hue University into Vietnam National University according to Resolution 83/NQ-CP dated May 27, 2020 by the Government.

To clarify the development of the provincial education and training sector, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Le Truong Luu affirmed: “One of the remarkable events in the province is the Political Bureau issued Resolution 54 in which many contents related to Hue University. Therefore, Hue University’s position can be considered to be inseparable in the provincial development.”

Concluding at the meeting, Minister Phung Xuan Nha highly valued the leadership of Thua Thien Hue Party Committee for the past time on the development of Hue University. He said that in the coming time Hue University needed to review the project for its submission to the Government and that Hue University and Thua Thien Hue province needed to set up the project of training towards human resource development, especially in the fields of science, technology, business, culture, arts, teaching, etc. After this meeting, the Ministry of Education and Training will soon issue the conclusion relating to discussed issues to promote Hue University to the National University.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Training issued the Conclusion by Minister Phung Xuan Nha after he had worked with Hue University. The Conclusion affirmed to develop Hue University in research-oriented way and based on its autonomy. Also, the Minister agreed upon Hue University’s policy in setting up the project to integrate Thua Thien Hue Health College with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and the priority to arrange public investment in the period 2021-2025 in the project of site clearance for the construction of Hue University.
