Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Hue University President 

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh, Hue University President appreciated the efforts of leaders and staff of Hue University, member universities, schools, affiliated institutes, and students of Hue University who have overcome the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 to successfully complete the tasks of the 2019-2020 academic year, improving the quality of education and continuing to affirm the position of Hue University in the country, the region and the world. 

In the last academic year, Hue University has implemented 5 key tasks: (1) Implementing the Law on amendments and supplements to the Law on Higher Education; restructuring Hue University to develop Hue University into a National University; implementing the procedure of appointment and consolidation for the management apparatus of member units and affiliated units in the term of 2019 - 2024; (2) Strengthening and restructuring of training careers, expanding training scales, improving training quality to meet socio-economic development needs and ensuring revenue exceeding 10 - 15%; (3) Completing the educational quality assurance system and network throughout Hue University; implementing a plan for self-assessment and accrediting the training program quality based on national and international standards; developing database ranking of Hue University; promoting the cooperation between universities and businesses, enhancing entrepreneurship, innovation for students; (4) Promoting scientific and technological potentials, creating applicable products to serve the socio-economic development needs; proactively integrating into the world, improving the efficiency of cooperation with localities and enterprises; (5) Implementing the roadmap towards university autonomy, increasing revenue sources, investing in facilities to meet the needs of training and research; focusing on building the university urban area in Truong Bia.

The following key tasks in the 2020-2021 academic year are:

1. Concentrating resources on building and developing Hue University into a national university.
2. Continuing to innovate teaching methods, improving training quality; restructuring training sectors, developing training programs based on social needs; promoting links between disciplines and units, attracting students to study two degrees simultaneously.
3. Implementing accreditation plans of the quality of educational institutions, national and international training programs; Having at least 15 - 17% of training programs that are externally assessed.
4. Implementing the regulations of science and technology, ensuring the output of research activities; developing many products of science and technology, and creating a breakthrough in revenue from science and technology, accounting for 15-18%; promoting international cooperation associated with training and scientific research.
5. Implementing an effective financial system in order to increase financial potentials and facilities.

Also at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh concluded that Hue University has many opportunities and challenges in the 2020-2021 academic year. Therefore, Hue University has to focus its resources, combine all fields of training, scientific research, and administration to successfully develop Hue University into a National University.
