Australian ambassador pays a visit to the Advanced program at Hue University College of Economics. (23-02-2011 15:13)

On December 21, 2010, Mr. Allaster Cox, Australian ambassador had a meeting with the management board of the Advanced program at Hue University College of Economics. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Toan, Hue University President, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mai Van Xuan - Dean of Economics and Development Department, Director of Advanced program and related staff received the ambassador.

The College's Advanced program is part of the project "Advanced program-based training in some universities in Vietnam for the period of 2008 -2015" by the Ministry of Education and Training. The project aims to develop a number of departments and specialties that meet regional and international standards to gradually improve training quality and totally reform Vietnam's Higher Education system. The Department of Economics and Development, Hue University College of Economics carried out the dual bachelor's degree advanced program in Agricultural Economics and Finance in cooperation with the University of Sydney, one of famous Australian universities ranked 36th in the world by the U.S News and World Report.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof Mai Van Xuan gave a report on results of the Advanced program and the meeting with ACIAR and AusAID in Canberra, Australia, and expressed great thanks to the Ambassador for his attention and encouragement. Prof. Xuan also undertook to make every effort to improve the training quality and sustainability of the College's Advanced program.

Mr. Allaster Cox appreciated the initial results of the College's Advanced program and paid a special attention to students of the program. He also mentioned supportive ways to improve learning and research conditions for the Advanced program's staff and students such as connecting internet for using learning resources from libraries of the University of Sydney, possibility in financial support of Australian government's organizations such as ACIAR, AusAID, the university of Sydney, granting scholarships for the Advanced program's students to study at the University of Sydney and other cooperation in research activities.
