The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism is set up in accordance with the Decision No. 020/QĐ-ĐHH-TCNS dated January 14, 2008 by the President of Hue University.  For period 2008-2010, around 450 -500 students will be selected with such majors as: Business Administration in Tourism, Tourism Studies , International hotel and resort management, Tour Operator Management, Tourist guide studies. The period after the year 2010, the number of intake students is around 500 to 600 with various and new majors to meet the requirements of highly professional and well-qualified labor recourses of Services tourism.  Also, the higher education for graduate and post-graduate level in tourism field will be set up soon.

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Toan, President of Hue University gave a speech and strongly focused on some issues of the coming development directions of the Faculty such as: concentrate on developing the working staffs with the clear standards and titles, carry on recruiting the staff basing on intensive training and giving priority on selecting the lecturers with Master degrees and higher. He also emphasized that it was necessary to attract well-qualified lecturers by suitable policies, to strengthen international cooperation, to take advantages on the sponsor of organizations, to cooperate not only with the domestic and oversea education centers to approach with advanced technology of education and training but also with companies, hotels, tourism services centers in training and enhancing skills for both students and lecturers.  According to him, the Faculty of Tourism should continue building the joint training programs with prestigious universities from the backgrounds of present international cooperation, and develop the faculty’s facility to serve for the training and scientific research, and for a higher living standard of both students and teaching staffs.

The establishment of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism under the direct management of Hue University has an important and historical significance in the establishment and development process of Hue University. Together with 7 member colleges, Faculty of Physical Education, researching and technology exchange centers and institute, the establishment of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism would highly contribute to promote the present position of Hue University to a higher one and to meet the urgent demand of high-qualified education of human resources serving for the industrialization and modernization of the country.
