It is a long journey from Korea to Hue City, Vietnam. These volunteer students bring with them their Korean culture and the enthusiasm of the youth…

Jang A Ram, one of the students, says:” Before coming here, I am very worried. However, after working and staying with students of Hue University, I have been very happy.  Hue University students are very kind and they supports us a lot.  We also have chance to share and exchange our culture.  Also, the atmosphere here is very fresh.  I love to stay here.  If I have another chance to come back, I surely will.”.

All students are learning about the Zeng textile  and how to make it.  This is a traditional job of high land women and it has just been revived.

the students also share to cook and prepare meals.  They all must be very excited to smell the smoke from these simple and open ovens.

Prof. Bae, Jaeng-Saeng, the Vice chairman (standing and in the middle), is in charge of Student Affairs of Chonbuk National University says:” When we came here, I was very surprised and worried about the daily accommodation conditions.  It is very hot and the living condition is quite different.  But the locals and Hue University students help us a lot.  We are very glad when we can successfully hold our volunteer activities such as teaching children to study, the locals to protect the environment and to take care their health. We are really very happy to stay and to exchange  with Hue University students.  We can say that the relationship between students of two universities is very good.  They have had opportunity to exchange and share their opinions, lifestyles, studying and they teach the others Vietnamese, Korean, the songs, the dances and so on”.

On this occasion, Chonbuk National University also donate 1000 USD to Hong Ha Commune.  The money is used to buy facilities for community activities at the commune.  In addition, children at the commune are presented gifts of clothes, books and study tools

Since 2004, there have been 14 volunteer groups from Chonbuk National University coming to Laos, China, Philippine, Mongolia, Nepal and Indonesia.  Hong Ha Commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue Province is the first place in Vietnam they come.  The time at Hong Ha Commune will be unforgettable memory for Hue University students, Chonbuk University and the locals.
