Opening ceremony of the first cohort of the Dual Degree program in Agricultural Economics and Finance (12-10-2010 08:09)

In the morning of October 7, 2010, Hue University College of Economics organized the Opening Ceremony for the first cohort of the Dual Degree program in Agricultural Economics and Finance in cooperation with the University of Sydney, Australia. 49 students of Groups A and D were admitted to this cohort.

The dual bachelor's degree program in Agricultural Economics and Finance, a joint program between Hue University College of Economics and the University of Sydney (USYD), Australia is under the project "Training Advanced programs in some universities of Vietnam in the period 2008-2015". Importing USYD curriculum, the program, aims to train bachelors in Agricultural Economics and Finance up to regional and international standards, supplying high quality human resources for the national economy in the integration period. The University of Sydney was ranked 36 of the world's top universities in 2009.

In the first year of their five-year program, students will study obligatory subjects including National defense education, physical education, Marxist-Leninist Philosophy, Ho Chi Minh's ideology, and improve their English proficiency. For the next four years, students must complete general and specialized subjects with 192 credits (including 90 obligatory and 102 optional) which are mainly instructed by Australian lecturers. The evaluation of accumulated results is made for each module.

Students who complete the program will be conferred Dual Bachelor's Degrees in Agricultural Economics and Finance. Last-year students will have a chance to study at USYD, and be granted degrees by USYD. Bachelor degrees under advanced programs are considered international degrees in terms of English skills and qualification for higher education and opportunities for seeking jobs worldwide.
