1. Về mặt khoa học

Thứ nhất, luận án đã đi sâu phân tích, làm rõ những cơ sở, nhân tố quan trọng tác động đến quan hệ Nhật Bản - Việt Nam từ năm 2002 đến năm 2018, bao gồm: Những cơ sở lịch sử, văn hóa như: Sự gần gũi về vị trí địa lý, điều kiện tự nhiên, các mối liên hệ trong lịch sử, những nét tương đồng về văn hóa, tôn giáo - tín ngưỡng… và thực trạng mối quan hệ giữa hai nước giai đoạn 1973 - 2001; những nhân tố quốc tế như bối cảnh quốc tế, khu vực, nhân tố nước lớn; đặc biệt là vị trí của Nhật Bản và Việt Nam trong chính sách đối ngoại của mỗi nước. Tất cả đã tạo thuận lợi cho sự phát triển nhanh chóng của quan hệ hai nước trong giai đoạn nói trên.

Thứ hai, trên cơ sở đó, luận án làm rõ quá trình vận động, phát triển mối quan hệ Nhật Bản - Việt Nam giai đoạn 2002 - 2018. Đây là một quá trình tiệm tiến theo xu hướng đi lên, không có xung đột, mâu thuẫn mà luôn hướng tới tìm kiếm những hình thức hợp tác phù hợp, hiệu quả nhất nhằm đáp ứng nhu cầu thiết thực của mỗi nước trên cơ sở hai bên cùng có lợi. Tuy nhiên, nhìn một cách tổng thể, quan hệ hai nước trong giai đoạn này vẫn chưa tương xứng với tiềm năng, lợi thế của mỗi nước cũng như sự kỳ vọng của lãnh đạo và nhân dân hai nước.

Luận án đã phân tích quan hệ Nhật Bản - Việt Nam (2002 - 2018) trên các lĩnh vực chính trị - ngoại giao, kinh tế và an ninh - quốc phòng, làm rõ những kết quả đạt được cũng như hạn chế của mối quan hệ. Trên cơ sở đó, luận án chỉ ra những đặc điểm và tác động của mối quan hệ đến mỗi nước và khu vực; những vấn đề đặt ra và hàm ý chính sách cho Việt Nam trong quan hệ hợp tác với Nhật Bản.

2. Về mặt thực tiễn

Thứ nhất, những kết quả nghiên cứu của luận án trong chừng mực nhất định, cung cấp thêm một số luận cứ khoa học trong việc hoạch định và triển khai chính sách đối ngoại của Việt Nam trong quan hệ với Nhật Bản, qua đó góp phần thúc đẩy quan hệ đối tác chiến lược sâu rộng giữa hai nước tiếp tục phát triển ổn định trên nhiều phương diện, nhất là về chính trị - ngoại giao, kinh tế và an ninh - quốc phòng.

Thứ hai, luận án là tài liệu tham khảo hữu ích cho việc nghiên cứu, giảng dạy, học tập ở các trường đại học, cao đẳng, viện, trung tâm nghiên cứu… liên quan đến các lĩnh vực như: Lịch sử Thế giới hiện đại, Quan hệ quốc tế ở châu Á - Thái Bình Dương, Khu vực học, Quan hệ quốc tế của Nhật Bản và Việt Nam… cùng những ai quan tâm đến quan hệ Nhật Bản - Việt Nam trong giai đoạn hiện nay.

SUMMARY OF NEW CONCLUSIONS OF DOCTORAL DISSERTATION

1. Scientific perspectives:

Firstly, the dissertation analyzed and clarified the important foundations and factors affecting Japan - Vietnam relations from 2002 to 2018, specifically: Historical and cultural foundations such as similarities in natural conditions, culture, religions, relations between the two countries before 2002, particularly the position of Japan and Vietnam in each country’s foreign policies, international factors such as international and regional contexts, big countries. All of these factors had facilitated the quick development of relations between the two countries in the above period.

Secondly, on that basis, the dissertation clarified the process of movement and development of Japan - Vietnam relations in the period of 2002-2018. This was an upgraded process (from “reliable, stable and long-term partnership” toward “extensive strategic partnership”), there were no conflicts and the most appropriate and effective forms of cooperation were fostered for mutual benefits. However, overall the relations between the two countries in this period were still not suitable with the potentials and advantages of each country as well as the expectations of the leaders and people of the two countries.

The dissertation analyzed Japan - Vietnam relations in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economy and security - defense from 2002 to 2018, clarified important achievements as well as limitations of the relations. On that basis, the dissertation indicated characteristics and impacts of bilateral relations on each country and East Asia; problems and solutions to promote the development of two countries’ relations; anticipation of movement trends and lessons of experience from Japan - Vietnam relations.

2. Practical perspectives

Firstly, the research findings of the dissertation have provided some more scientific arguments in the planning and implementation of Vietnam’s foreign policies to Japan, thereby promoting to the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries to develop stably in many aspects, especially in politics - diplomacy, economy and security - defense.

Secondly, the dissertation is a useful reference for research, teaching and learning at universities, colleges, institutes, research centers... in terms of Modern World History, International Relations in Asia - Pacific, Regional Studies, International Relations of Japan and Vietnam... and those who are interested in Japan - Vietnam relations in the current period.
